UNUSUAL FIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARDS: High temperatures and fire may cause rapid and uncontrolled polymerization. REACTIVITY DATASTABILITY: Stable. HAZARDOUS DECOMPOSITION PRODUCTS: CO2, aldehydes, acids. Reaction with some curing agents can generate large amounts of heat. HAZARDOUS POLYMERIZATION: See "Unusual Fire and Explosion Hazards" above. CONDITIONS TO AVOID: Avoid excessive heat or open flames. HEALTH HAZARD DATAKNOWN HAZARDS: None anticipated. Can cause irritation with repeated and prolonged contact. Can cause sensitization in susceptible individuals. CARCINOGENICITY: No ingredients are classified by IARC, NTP, or OSHA as known or potential carcinogens. PRIMARY ROUTES OF EXPOSURE: Dermal. Inhalation. SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF EXPOSURE: Epoxy resins can cause sensitization in susceptible individuals. Can cause eye and skin irritation. Exposure to heated vapors can cause irritation to the nose, throat or mucous membranes. MEDICAL CONDITIONS AGGRAVATED BY EXPOSURE: Respiratory conditions or other allergic responses. EMERGENCY AND FIRST AID PROCEDURESEYES: Flush eyes with water for at least 15 minutes and consult a physician. SKIN: Contact will normally cause no more than irritation but wash affected area with soap and water and remove contaminated clothing promptly. INHALATION: Move victim to fresh air area and administer oxygen if necessary. INGESTION: Do not induce vomiting, if large amounts of material are ingested, consult with a physician immediately. OTHER: Referral to a physician is recommended if there is any question about the seriousness of the injury/ exposure. CONTROL MEASURES AND PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENTVENTILATION: General exhaust is usually sufficient to control vapors and exposure hazards. EYE PROTECTION: Chemical goggles or glasses with side shields recommended in most industrial settings. SKIN PROTECTION: Impervious gloves - Neoprene or Rubber recommended. RESPIRATORY PROTECTION: Use a NIOSH approved respirator as required to prevent over-exposure to vapor in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.134. General exhaust is usually sufficient in lieu of NIOSH respirator. PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFE HANDLING AND USEHANDLING AND STORING PRECAUTIONS: Store in cool dry place. Read the MSDS prior to using material. Seal all partially used containers. Wash with soap and water before eating, drinking, smoking or using toilet facilities. SPILL PROCEDURES: Wear respirator and protective clothing, Shut off the source of the leak. Remove excess material and take up the remainder with an absorbent such as clay and place in disposal containers. Flush area with water to remove residue. REGULATORY INFORMATIONHAZARD COMMUNICATION: This Material Safety Data Sheet has been prepared in accordance with the federal OSHA Hazard Communication Standard. HMIS CODES: Health 2, Flammability 1, Reactivity 0, PPE B DOT SHIPPING INFO: Non-regulated TSCA INVENTORY STATUS: Chemical components listed on TSCA inventory. SARA TITLE III, SECTION 313: This product does not contain any ingredients subject to reporting under requirements of Section 313 of the Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act of 1986 and 40 CFR Part 372. MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEET
HILTI, INC.:
PRODUCT NAME: RM 720 EP Epoxy Mortar - Aggregate - Part C DESCRIPTION: Zero Degrees Epoxy INGREDIENTS AND EXPOSURE LIMITS
PEL = OSHA Permissible Exposure Limit. TLV = ACGIH Threshold Limit Value. These are 8 hour time-weighted averages unless otherwise indicated by "C" (Ceiling) or "STEL" (Short Term Exposure Limit). NA = Not Applicable. * = Respirable Dust. PHYSICAL DATA
FIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARD DATAFLASH POINT: Not Applicable FLAMMABLE LIMITS: Not Applicable SPECIAL FIRE FIGHTING PROCEDURES: None known EXTINGUISHING MEDIA: Not Applicable UNUSUAL FIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARDS: None known REACTIVITY DATAINCOMPATIBILITY: Strong oxidizing agents. STABILITY: Stable. HAZARDOUS DECOMPOSITION PRODUCTS: None expected HAZARDOUS POLYMERIZATION: Will not occur CONDITIONS TO AVOID: Contact with powerful oxidizing agents such as fluorine, chlorine trifluoride, manganese trioxide, oxygen trifluoride. HEALTH HAZARD DATAKNOWN HAZARDS: None expected from normal use of this product. Excess exposure to silica dusts by inhalation for extended periods of time may result in the development of pulmonary diseases including pneumoconiosis such as silicosis. CARCINOGENICITY: IARC has classified respirable silica (silica sand, CAS 14808-60-7) as Group 2A based on studies of workers routinely exposed to silica dusts (e.g. quarry and foundry workers). The nature and use of this product does not pose a cancer risk to users. The use of a NIOSH-approved dust mask in any dusty situations will greatly reduce the potential for exposure to silica. PRIMARY ROUTES OF EXPOSURE: Dermal. Inhalation. SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF EXPOSURE: Prolonged and repeated exposure to the hands can lead to drying of the skin and dermatitis. Exposure to dusts can lead to breathing difficulty. MEDICAL CONDITIONS AGGRAVATED BY EXPOSURE: Eye, skin, and respiratory conditions. EMERGENCY AND FIRST AID PROCEDURESEYES: Immediately flush with plenty of water. Call a physician if irritation persists. SKIN: Wash with soap and water. INHALATION: Move victim to fresh air. Call a physician if symptoms persist. INGESTION: Not normally a route of exposure. Seek medical attention if ill-effects occur. OTHER: Referral to a physician is recommended if there is any question about the seriousness of the injuryor exposure. CONTROL MEASURES AND PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENTVENTILATION: General (i.e. natural or mechanically induced fresh air movements). EYE PROTECTION: Safety glasses with side shields. Splash-proof chemical goggles recommended while mixing parts A and B (i.e. resin and hardener). SKIN PROTECTION: Cotton gloves recommended to keep skin from defatting (drying out). RESPIRATORY PROTECTION: None normally required with adequate ventilation as noted above. Use a NIOSH-approved dust mask when working in areas where dust is being generated. PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFE HANDLING AND USEHANDLING AND STORING PRECAUTIONS: Avoid contact with eyes, skin, or clothing. Wash hands after handling. Store in a dry location. SPILL PROCEDURES: Sweep up and discard. REGULATORY INFORMATIONHAZARD COMMUNICATION: This MSDS has been prepared in accordance with the federal OSHA Hazard Communication Standard.
